Peace Scouts (updated 03/12/2012)
Peace Scouts has begun at Bryant! We have completed week 2 of our 10 week session and have 8 participants so far with room for 12! We are earning our "Power of Peace" badge by exploring and learning what peace means. Each Peace Scout receives a T-Shirt and patch/badge at the completion of the session. Peace Scouts are teams of boys & girls in search of the “Powers of Peace”. Parnering with caring adults, children can explore what peace means to them and how they can contribute to a peaceful world. Children learn how active peace is by studying the lives of people who have dedicated themselves to peace.

Fiddle Club (updated 12/13/2011)
The fiddle class currently consists of 8 kids (grades 2-5) and a few wonderful parent volunteers. Melissa Adams is the founder of and coordinator for the group, and, Betsy Johnson, has the great pleasure of teaching the class! The class is held after school on Mondays, from 3:30-4:30 in the library. They will be adding a "feeder group," for new students, in our next session (which will also be meeting once a week). They have yet to concrete a date and time for this group to meet, but we're very excited to welcome the new students and expand our thriving program! Betsy teaches the students basic music theory and notation, proper violin technique, scales, and fiddle tunes. It is vital that the students learn good habits and the fundamentals of music, along with songs, for a myriad of reasons. Among these is the reality that those tools yield lifelong benefits and aid their individual success as musicians. The students also had their first performance this year, in our "Fiddlers and Friends" concert, which took place here at Bryant on December 5th. It was a great success and experience for the fiddlers, and we thank all of those who attended and contributed to make it possible! The students played exceptionally well, and left the stage with a sense of confidence and accomplishment! The Fiddle Club looks forward to future performances, and a brand new session filled with enrichment, growth, and fun.
